We’re gearing up here in my part of Kansas for the Winter Woolfest 2015 in just over a week from now. It’s January 17th from 10am to 4pm at the Columbian Theatre in Wamego, KS. There will be lots of vendors both upstairs and down- and classes listed starting at 10:15 and running until 3pm; most of which are free! You’ll need to get there early to sign up, though. Signup starts at 10am.
Wildflower Knits will have a booth; I’ll be upstairs since this is just my second year participating. In 2014, I started doing more events, like the XRX, Inc Stitches events, so the booth has grown beyond a couple highlighted designs and tons of buttons. I’ll have kits for several new accessories, the Vests Rock! Collection, my patterns, and of course, tons of buttons at the Woolfest. I’ll also be bringing along my “bargain basket” full of needles, hooks, and accessories.
The Winter Woolfest is the brainchild of Jennifer Schermerhorn, owner of the Wicked Stitch in Wamego, KS. I recently heard her shop is closing; hopefully to give her more time to plan exciting events like this one (and continue to create her amazing fiber sculptures.) It has grown from a handful of vendors to filling both floors of the Columbian Theatre in the six years since it began. Watch the Facebook page for Winter Woolfest 2015 in the days leading up to the Woolfest for highlights on what to see and do.
I remember the first year I participated having so much fun! It was great to see so many people that I knew from having the shop; like a surprise reunion of sorts! If you’re in the area, you won’t want to miss it. Even if you’re not that close, it’s worth the drive and just 9 miles north of I-70.
Find me in my booth, stop by and say hello; bring me a little slip of paper with your name and contact info and you’ll get entered into a special drawing- just for reading this post!
