The collection continues
I first visited Montisi in 2013 and have continued to travel there each fall to teach a workshop with Knitting in Tuscany (now Trips for Knitters). I was so touched by all I met that a glimmer of an idea soon grew into designing 14 garments for 13 wonderful people and 1 very special dog! You can read a little bit about the Montisi collection here.
This year, the collection continues to grow…
Meet Mary Jane, Alessandra, and Susan. The patterns are headed to my tech editor this month and should be available soon. Photos shown here are credited to Linn Fales.
Mary Jane, not an Italian, but a very special woman who is loved by many in the small village of Montisi. She’s been returning all but one year since her first trip over 10 years ago. She teaches knitting here in the states, so it was only natural she would want to teach it in Montisi, too. She shared her love of knitting with the village children her second year there by teaching them to knit and holding lessons each year in the villa. It’s always a highlight of my trip to hear them calling out for her when we first arrive.
I didn’t get to know Alessandra until the last couple of years; can’t you just tell how wonderful she is by the photo? A spark of life and a very talented artist, too. She has a small gift shop in Montisi called Decorandra filled to the brim with the creations (and our favorite skin care products from olive oil).
And last, but certainly not least, is Susan. There would have never been a Montisi collection without her. She is the leader behind Trips for Knitters and I am in awe of all she accomplishes on these trips – and beyond!
These 3 vests complete the collection. I’m working on putting together a book to showcase them all. Updates to follow… for now, you can sign up for the newsletter to get the scoop on when the patterns will be available.
