Size approximately 5.5” by 5.5”
Tahki Yarns “Tara Tweed” or any worsted yarn (122 yds/50grs; 80% Wool, 20% Nylon):1 ball each #021 mushroom tweed (light) and #027 denim tweed (dark)
Size U6 4mm) 16” circular knitting needle or size to obtain gauge.
16 sts and 40 rows = 4” (10cm) in Woven Check
To save time, take time to check gauge.
1) Colors are labeled light and dark for ease in following pattern. 2) The dark color is double stranded. 3) When both yarns are at beginning of row, bring new color under and behind older color.
Woven Check pattern
worked over a multiple of 4 sts plus 2.
Row 1: Light, p1, *k2, p2; rep from * to last st, end k1 – slide.
Row 2: Dark, sl 1 wyif, *slip 2 wyib, sl 2 wyif; rep from * to last st, end sl 1 wyib – turn.
Row 3: Light, rep Row 1 – slide.
Row 4: Dark, rep Row 2 – turn.
Row 5: Light, k1, *p2, k2, rep from * to last st, end p1 – slide.
Row 6: Dark, sl 1 wyib, *sl 2 wyif, sl 2 wyib; rep from * to last st, end sl 1 wyif – turn.
Row 7: Light, rep Row 5 – slide.
Row 8: Dark, rep Row 6 – turn.
Rep Rows 1 – 8 for pattern.
Cast on 22 sts with light – turn.
Work Woven Check pattern for a total of 7 repeats. Bind off all sts next RS row with light.
Darn in all ends. A trim can be added if desired.
