Crab stitch is one of my favorite crochet edgings. It’s simple to execute once you understand single crochet.
Single crochet can also be used as an edging. It is often used in simple knits to tame down rough edges.
To work a single crochet edging, insert hook into the first stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch. Then yarn over again and pull through both loops on hook. Repeat in every stitch along the edge.
Crochet is worked right to left. To work a Crab Stitch edging, you will work left to right. The steps are the same. You’ll have one loop on the hook as you start back left to right. Insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through. Two loops will be on the hook now. Yarn over and pull through both stitches.
Crab Stitch creates a nice decorative finished edge.
